OUR PROCESS

Everything Begins Underground

Long before a beam holds a roof or a bar reinforces a wall, there is only rock and fire. Shakambhari chose not to buy steel, but to build the entire chain that makes it, our own mines, our own reduction, our own furnace, our own hands at every stage. What follows is that journey, six stages from raw earth to reinforced tomorrow. #SteelWithin isn't a line on a label; it's the discipline running through all six, so that whatever carries our name carries the strength of everything that came before it.

The Ferro Alloys Process Flow

From furnace charge to dispatch, silicomanganese production follows a fixed sequence, with its own closed loop for cooling and power, and the slag stream worked a second time to recover metal rather than discard it.

Slag Isn't Waste

Material tapped from the furnace splits two ways. The metal moves straight into cleaning, sizing, weighing and lot preparation for dispatch. The slag mixed with it goes through jigging instead of the bin, a process that separates by density, recovering additional metal back into the main stream and leaving behind a slag by-product that's put to use in road construction and land filling.

A Closed Cooling & Power Loop

The furnace transformer draws power from the power house and steps it up to run the furnace itself, while a cooling tower and pump house keep water circulating continuously through the furnace to manage the heat. Waste transformer oil is never discharged, it's drained and stored safely in drums.

The Earth Gives

Raw Materials, Iron Ore & Coal

Before a single beam is cast, there is only rock. Iron ore fines are sourced from trusted market suppliers; coal is drawn straight from Shakambhari's own mines, the first link in a chain we chose to own end to end, not rent piece by piece.

CHAPTER II

Shaped for Purpose

Pelletization

Raw ore fines alone are unruly, too fine, too inconsistent for the kiln ahead. They're agglomerated into uniform spherical pellets, engineered for the permeability that clean, efficient reduction demands.

CHAPTER III

The Stripping Away

Direct Reduced Iron, Rotary Kiln

At roughly 950°C, pellets and mined coal meet inside the rotary kiln. Oxygen is stripped away; only metallic iron remains. No coking, no blast furnace, impurities fall, and what's left is closer to the strength we're building toward.

CHAPTER IV

Where It Becomes One

Steel Making, Induction Furnace

Sponge iron meets externally sourced scrap and pig iron, and silicomanganese made entirely in-house, three sources, melted at roughly 1600°C into one liquid steel. Almost none of it was bought as a finished input we simply had to have; nearly all of it, we made ourselves.

CHAPTER V

Discipline Takes Form

Continuous Casting, Billets

Liquid steel is poured into water-cooled molds and drawn out continuously, no batch, no interruption. What emerges is a billet with a grain structure disciplined enough to hold whatever shape comes next.

Pressure Reveals Purpose

Rolling Mills, Finished Long Products

Billets are reheated and driven through rolling mills under enormous pressure, elongating and refining into three distinct products, each one built to hold something up: a wall, a roof, a skyline.

Shakambhari controls the entire value chain, our own coal mines, our own pelletization, our own reduction, our own furnace, our own mills. Waste streams are captured and recycled internally. Silicomanganese is produced in-house. Nothing here was outsourced because it was easier, it was built this way because pioneers don't rent the parts that matter.
